Overall champions - Section Lancia »
The Lancia company belongs to the oldest car manufacturers in Italy and was already founded in 1906 as Lancia & C. Fabbrica Automobili by the former test- and racing pilots Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin, who had also worked in the engineering department of Fiat. The continuously redeveloped models of the Turin-based manufacturer of passenger cars and commercial vehicles successfully took part in the Mille Miglia race since 1927.
The first overall victory for the factory´s team, founded in 1952, was only achieved during the 11th Mille Miglia in 1954 with the legendary racing car model D24 and thus put an end to the six-years victory series of Ferrari.
